EXCITING WEST Ham United midfielder, Manuel Lanzini, made a winning debut for Argentina, coming on a late substitute for La Albiceleste in a fiercely fought 1-0 victory over bitter rivals Brazil, in a match staged at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia.
Lanzini replaced Ever Banega to become West Ham’s 157th senior international and followed in the footsteps of Lionel Scaloni, Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez to have represented both the Hammers and Argentina.
For the record, Barcelona’s Lionel Messi featured for Argentina. Sevilla’s Gabriel Mercado grabbed the only goal of the game shortly before the break in front of a huge crowd in excess of 90.000.
